You just get a screen with squares but no maps!!

No I must apologise to you Tony. It was a shock!!😊
My main concern was that 'Maps' is not working i.e
I get the squares on the screen but no maps.
It worked for a few minutes after installation, then nothing since.
It will work out a route from one area to another, but there is no map.
How can I reset it without removing 'Mavericks' and re-loading it?

Nothing, they are all blank.

My problem is on my iMac, not on a mobile phone.
Did you ever get this fixed? My iMac has just developed the same problem. There is a grid, the program has found me, but there are no maps or satellite photos showing. I would love to avoid a complete reinstall of Mavericks if I can help it? I don't know if it is related, but Messages has also stopped working. When I try to load, it immediately crashes, even though my task bar is showing that I have an unread message. Very strange.
